About Kinsu

About Kinsu

Is this another Practo or 1mg?

No. Kinsu doesn’t book doctors or sell medicines. It keeps what you manage between appointments: your family’s reports, your medicines and your readings.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once you’re set up. Setting up needs internet, to verify your mobile number. After that, your records, reminders and readings are on your phone and open without a connection.

Does it give medical advice?

No. Kinsu is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Always ask your doctor.

Is Kinsu connected to ABHA?

No. Kinsu doesn’t connect to ABHA, ABDM or any national health record system.

Why Android only?

Kinsu is Android-only for now, because that’s where we’re starting. There’s no iPhone version yet.

What does it cost?

Kinsu is free to download, and has no ads.

Who are you?

Kinsu Health, a small team in India. Kinsu started with liver cirrhosis care and the paper file families carry to every appointment, and now covers BP, diabetes, thyroid and more.

What do I need to use Kinsu?

An Android phone running Android 7.0 or newer, with a screen lock. An Indian mobile number, for the sign-in code. And an internet connection while you set up.

Medicine reminders

Medicine reminders

Will the reminder show my medicine’s name?

Not unless you choose. By default it says only that a dose is due, so nothing sensitive shows on your lock screen. You can switch names on in Settings.

Can I set a medicine for certain days only?

Yes. Choose daily, weekly on the days you pick, or monthly on a date. A medicine you take only when needed doesn’t send reminders: you note each time you take it.

Can one medicine have more than one time?

Yes. Pick every time you take it, for example before breakfast and after dinner, and each one gets its own reminder.

What if I miss a dose?

Kinsu shows it as missed. What to do next depends on the medicine, so check the leaflet or ask your doctor or pharmacist. If you’re unsure, don’t take an extra dose.

Why didn’t a reminder ring?

Reminders are notifications from your phone, so they depend on its settings. Notifications must be allowed for Kinsu, and battery saving or Do Not Disturb can hold them back. Some phones also stop notifications from apps they put to sleep. If missing a dose could be serious, don’t rely on Kinsu alone.

Health records

Health records

Can Kinsu read or explain my lab report?

No. Kinsu keeps the photo or file and the details you type in, such as the name, doctor, date and tags. It doesn’t read or interpret reports: your doctor does.

What can I add to the vault?

Photos from your camera or gallery, and files such as PDFs and Word documents. You can crop a photo to the page before you save it, and PDFs open inside the app.

Can I keep my mother’s reports separate from mine?

Yes. Add her in Family and choose her name when you save a record. In the vault, switch between people to see only hers.

Should I still keep the paper originals?

Yes. Hospitals and insurance claims often ask for originals, and a photo is only a copy. Kinsu helps you find the right page quickly; it doesn’t replace the paper.

Family

Family

Can my family see my records?

No. Your records, and the ones you keep for family members, stay on your phone. Nobody else can open them, and Kinsu doesn’t send them to anyone.

Can I add my elderly parents if they’re not tech-savvy?

Yes. Add them in Family and keep their prescriptions, reports and scans on your phone, labelled with their name. They don’t need the app or a smartphone.

Can my brother and I both see Ma’s records?

Not yet. Records stay on the phone they were added on, and nobody else can open them. Sharing with a family member is being built, and we’ll update this page when it’s ready.

Will I know if Papa misses his medicine?

No. Kinsu doesn’t send alerts to anyone else’s phone, and it can’t see the doses on another phone.

Can family members be my emergency contacts?

Yes. Mark them as caregivers in Family and they appear on the SOS screen. With their number saved, one tap opens your dialler to call them. Kinsu doesn’t call or message anyone for you.

Readings and conditions

Readings and conditions

Which readings can I log?

Blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, pulse, SpO₂ and temperature. You can also log sleep, mood, symptoms, meals and exercise, and note an illness as an episode.

Does Kinsu measure my blood pressure or sugar?

No. You type in the number from your own blood pressure monitor, glucose meter or oximeter. A phone app can’t measure blood pressure or sugar by itself, and Kinsu doesn’t claim to.

Does Kinsu tell me whether a reading is normal?

No. The weekly chart shades a general reference band, the same for everyone. It isn’t tailored to your age or condition and it isn’t advice. Ask your doctor which numbers are right for you.

How do I show my readings to my doctor?

Open the chart or the history in Kinsu and show the screen. You can also export your readings as a spreadsheet file, saved on your phone. Exported files aren’t encrypted, so keep them somewhere safe.

SOS and Medical ID

SOS and Medical ID

Does SOS call or message anyone for me?

No. SOS opens your phone’s dialler with 112 ready, and you press call yourself. Tapping one of your emergency contacts also opens the dialler. Kinsu doesn’t send alerts, messages or your location to anyone.

Can a stranger see my Medical ID without unlocking my phone?

No. Your Medical ID is inside Kinsu, which opens only with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. It holds your name, blood group and health goals, and has no allergies field. For people helping you, also set up the emergency information that Android shows on the lock screen.

Skin, hair and eye care

Skin, hair and eye care

What do the skin, hair and eye care reminders do?

They remind you of routine steps you choose, such as sunscreen, scalp oiling, eye drops or a screen break, daily or weekly, and show how many of today’s steps you’ve done. They don’t assess your skin, hair or eyes, and they aren’t treatment.

Your data and privacy

Your data and privacy

Is my data sent to servers?

Your records aren’t. Everything you add stays on your phone, encrypted. Of what you put in Kinsu, two things leave it: your mobile number, which Google Firebase uses to text you a sign-in code, and an encrypted copy of your recovery key, which only your 12-word code can open. Signing in also sends Firebase technical details, such as your IP address and device identifiers, that it needs to sign you in safely.

What if I lose my phone?

Your records are only on your phone, so they go with it: there’s no cloud copy to restore from. Whoever has the phone can’t open them without your fingerprint, face or screen lock. Your 12-word recovery code gets you back in on the same phone if its security settings change; it can’t bring records to a new one.

Can I move my records to a new phone?

Not yet. Records live only on the phone you added them on. You can export the categories you choose as spreadsheet files, but Kinsu can’t import them back. The files aren’t encrypted, so keep them somewhere safe.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Settings → Delete account deletes your account and everything Kinsu keeps on your phone, straight away. It needs internet, to confirm with a fresh code. If you no longer have the phone or the app, kinsu.health/delete-account explains how to ask us to delete your account. We can’t reach records on a lost phone. Files you exported or saved to your Downloads folder stay until you delete them.

What is the 12-word recovery code for?

You write it down at setup. If your phone’s security settings change, such as a new fingerprint or screen lock, it’s the only way back into your records on that phone. It can’t bring records to a new phone, and nobody else has a copy, including us.

Can someone see Kinsu in my recent apps or screenshots?

No. Kinsu hides its screen from screenshots and the recent-apps view, and locks itself two minutes after you leave it.

The breathing timer

The breathing timer

Is the breathing timer free?

Yes. It’s free, needs no sign-up and no app, and works in your browser.

Is the breathing timer part of the Kinsu app?

No. It’s a free tool on this website. The Kinsu app is for medicine reminders, readings and your family’s medical records.

Which pattern should I start with?

Slow breathing is the gentlest: it has no holds. Box and 4-7-8 breathing add holds. Stop and breathe normally if any pattern feels uncomfortable.

Does the timer keep anything about me?

It remembers your last pattern and length in this browser, so they’re ready next time, and asks for nothing about you.
